Title: Did my BTC enter a black hole?
Post by: kablammo9000 on December 06, 2011, 11:17 pm
So about 48 hours ago I tried (for the first time) to add BTC to my SR account. I sent the BTC in a single transaction with two outputs (plus the third implicit output for my "change"). My account page presented me with an initial address, which I set as the destination of the first transaction output. I then clicked "get new address" on the account page to get a second address, which I set as the destination of the second output. I then ran the transaction. About two hours later, one and only one of my transaction's outputs appeared in my SR account (the one sent to the second address, I believe). The other output has still not appeared in my SR account, going on 48 hours later. I can confirm that everything went through on the blockexplorer, etc.

So my question: what happened to that missing output? Is it lost forever? :(

I've tried asking SR Support about this in the messaging section of the main site, but honestly, I can't blame them if they ignore (probably yet another) "My BTC haven't appeared in my account omg wtf!?!?!?!" message (I didn't actually write that -- tried to be as polite as possible).

Am I off base here? Is 48hr processing time actually unusual? Did I do something wrong? Did I misinterpret the note on the account page about previous addresses being reusable?

OK, literally 10 minutes after I posted this, SR Support replied to my message with a kind apology and credited my account for the missing amount. I couldn't be more pleased :)

In the future, though, I will be careful with that "get new address" button! (possibly I encountered some sort of bug?)

There was a glitch back about then that caught me as well, and I got lucky and messaged and got a reply back almost instantly. Apparently there was a glitch for a few minutes that a few transfers didn't get properly credited.

They fixed it up in just a few minutes for me.

So no, it wasn't anything you did - this time!

Same thing happened to me when I sent coins to the new address VERY soon after, probably a timing bug. I've sent coins to the new address many times before and it was fine, but I bet I waited longer.
